Bunya 100 and Other Cracks in the Looking Glass is Rob Ferguson’s exquisite collection of poems – pieces that resonate with raw courage, playful humour, and a gently haunting melancholy. These contemplative sketches of everyday life invite readers to pause, reflect, and rediscover the wonder in the ordinary. Praised by readers as diverse as literary critic Noel Cislowski AM, philanthropist Dick Smith AC, author Bruce Elder, and TIME Magazine’s Jay Newton-Small, the collection contains 127 poems, complemented by a rich addendum revealing the stories behind many of the poems. Opening with a striking excerpt from Auschwitz diarist Etty Hillesum, Ferguson grounds his work in a deep awareness of life’s fragility and radiance. His poems move with ease between wonder, illness, family, loss, and love – attending closely to the small miracles that shape human experience. From a little-known incident in the early history of the Sydney Opera House to intimate reflections on the textures of daily life, Bunya 100 offers a sensitive and expansive meditation on what it means to be human.
