She began her career in psychology and social work and has worked extensively in the field of mental health. Her training in psychoanalysis began at the Tavistock Centre and was completed at the Institute for Psychotherapy and Social Studies. Maggie is known particularly for her development and extension of the work of D.W. Winnicott. Her publications include a number of journal papers and one previous book, Psychosomatic Health: The Body and the Word.
