Caregiving Contexts

Much of the existing caregiving literature has focused on the caregiver or care recipient, their relationship, and the caregivers' burdens and stress. Yet most of the key issues surrounding aging individuals and society are socially and culturally bound - key issues like household structure and living arrangements; work, leisure, and retirement; and health and social policies all vary considerably from one context to another.""Caregiving Contexts"" focuses on the issue of caregiving from a wide variety of contextual frameworks - sociocultural, familial, and sociopolitical - as opposed to the more common disciplinary perspective. This broader perspective is particularly important in preparing caregiving related programs and policies for the challenges of the aging baby boomer generation.
