Train Trouble

Cassie and Lina can’t wait to pet sit two little mice at the Barefoot Springs Model Train Show. Strangely, Gus the grumpy talking cat who usually accompanies them on all their adventures, is nowhere to be found. When they see him sighing and swooning over a brown mouse in the Pet Shop window, they are amazed to find out that he loves mice! The girls arrive at the Train Show and are introduced to Marmite and Marmalade, the only two mice with special permission to be part of the train display. Ms. Caboose and her fellow judges will come by soon to judge the train scene, but in the meantime the girls get to dress up in beach themed costumes to match the display. While Cassie and Lina are changing, Gus is left to guard the display. When the girls return they are horrified to see two extra mice in the model train with Marmite and Marmalade! Gus insists he isn’t to blame but explains how he leaned towards the ‘darling mice’ and in a puff of fairy-floss smoke there were suddenly two extra mice. The girls are reluctant to believe Gus’s story, but when they see Gus’s whiskers brush the mice when the train comes around once more, they see it for themselves. Gus can’t help swooning over the mice, and whenever he does, more mice appear! But there is no time to wonder how: the judges are coming over. The rules are clear: only two mice and they must stay on the display. The girls have to work together to hide the extra mice before the judges suspect anything. Quickly, Cassie and Lina finding hiding places for the mice and turn to face the judges… but when they turn around again, Gus the cat has disappeared. And so have the mice! With the train display safe from disqualification, the problem of too many mice still needs solving. Cassie and Lina race to find Gus, finding him and the missing box of even more mice, at the Pet Shop. The Pet Shop owner is delighted but Cassie and Lina can’t stop to chat. They scoop up Gus and race back to the train show for a photo with the original two mice.
